This is good and so heartbreaking at the end; I like the transition from Greg thinking it's all cool to realizing just how dark and dangerous their lives are. Those last two paragraphs just bring it all together so wonderfully.
Oh, thank you. As much as I love Sam and Dean, I often think that if you met them in real life, you'd be best off running screaming in the other direction, so that was partly the inspiration for the story .... Thanks for the comment!
I tend to agree; they live so far out of "normal" that to someone who hasn't either been in a war zone or isn't some kind of crazed gun nut they would be extremely frightening--which explains why they're all the more attractive to me because I've never been right. ;)
I want to cuddle Dean right now. that was probably the last time he tried to make friends in high school.
Poor Greg had no idea what he was getting himself into. He was right about one thing, though; teen Dean is incredibly cool. Greg just didn't realize that the whole bad-boy vibe was the real deal.
I want to cuddle Dean, too! I wanted to post this in the Hoodie Time community, but then I realized it's hurt/comfort only, and there's no comfort for poor Dean here .... :-(
You are so right that Greg was in over his head. He was just a regular kid and so not ready to be able to understand anything like Dean's life, which Dean didn't realize either. As you say, Dean probably didn't want to put anyone else in that kind of position in the future and never tried to make a friend again.

Which is a-okay in hoodie_time's book! All hurt no comfort, or all comfort (okay, well, I guess to have comfort you need to have hurt, but you can off off-screen hurt) is totally cool. BD All hurt, no comfort is my preferred flavor of Dean H/C, even. :P
