Wow, incredibly sad for Dean but strangely hopeful for Sam. You really nailed Dean's character in this. He always goes off like a bomb when he's feeling like his family unit is threatened, and to any outsider, it would certainly look like he was abusive.
This line just killed me When did it ever matter what we wanted?! because it's so very true.
Yeah, initially I conceived it as a fantasy scenario, "What would it be like if Sam finally got what he wanted?" Hopeful for Sam, indeed! Yet it left me feeling REALLY glad that's not the direction the show has taken.
Glad you feel like I nailed Dean! He was wound so tight, he was even more extreme than usual, but then I thought, well, if Sam had been missing for over a week, he WOULD be. Thanks for commenting! :-D
hee ... however, I HATE HAWAIIAN SHIRTS. But it was hard to think of anything less Sam. ;-)
I totally considered writing a demon nurse! Who gloats to Dean that Sam's out of the hunting game and no longer a threat, but I decided it would be best to keep it all-human.
So sad. And unfortunately this would never last. Even though Sam has forgotten all about the things that go bump in the night, they haven't forgotten about him. :(
You know, that's the direction my thoughts were first going as I wrote it, but then I realized that during both Sam and Dean's year off, the bad things let them be (except Dean there at the end, when Sam was involved). Seems unlikely that it should be so, but maybe they really could just walk away from it. It's a nice idea, in any case ....

I was totally waiting for Dean to say Christo and the nurse and interns eyes to turn black or their heads to flip open.
I looove that idea of Sam percieving Dean and Bobby with no filter, really nice idea and it played out so well.
I likey : )
Any chance of a sequel a couple of years down the line when Sam calls Dean coz a wendigo tried to eat him? : ) x
