This extended author's note is par excellence. I'M OF A MIND THAT ALL FICS SHOULD COME WITH THESE, because, selfishly, this just doubles my pleasure. XD
( ... )
It doubles my pleasure, too!! Or sometimes helps me find my way into a fic I couldn't get into before. Glad you enjoyed it. :-)
I will try to remember to ping you then--I can't wait to see what it is. (You were right--8.13 was MUCH better.)
YES, that's exactly what I thought, that canon too loves the humor/angst combo. Strangely, however, fandom doesn't seem to. Maybe it's that you gird your loins for watching the show, but fanfic is supposed to be your escape, so some people get upset when something unexpected happens, like poor Nellie, argh. :-( But fanfic always surprises me; I'm always girded, more when I read it even than when I watch the show. Then again, I avoid fanfic that I don't think will surprise me, so that's to be expected! ANYWAY ...
Thank you for inspiring me to write this commentary! It's fun to write this stuff about one's fics, I just always figure no one gives a crap. "Shut up and write!" Ok. ;-)
Ah, Mad Libs. When the House fandom was active, some of us got together in person, and we wrote "House Mad Libs". It is an incredibly fun game to play and can be applied to any show.
Thank you for this author's note. I agree, it would be great if more authors described their thought processes.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I love reading about writers' processes, too ....
hee, Mad Libs. House Mad Libs would be fun. In high school, on a choir trip, there was one Mad Lib in some little booklet we'd been given. Somehow, the Mad Lib ended up naming our (douchey) choir teacher "White Bra," so he'll always be "White Bra" to me. Couldn't be more apt for that dude. :-D
