Fanmix time! While I was away from the land of livejournal, I discovered what is now one of my favorite movies of all-time: The Fall. Oh, I don't even know where to start with this film. To say that the visuals are 'breathtaking' seems insulting, but the beauty of this film is indescribable. Pure and simple. Because of the nature of the way The Fall was filmed, no soundtrack was released. Coincidentally, my love for the Fall blossomed at the same moment that we were assigned CD cover designs in my computer graphics class. So, I bring you Can You See the Stars?, a fanmix for The Fall.
Before I start I should note that some of the songs aren't listed on the CD cover due to timing and due dates. When the assignment was over with I couldn't be bothered to try and fit all the songs in :P Also, I'm going to refrain from posting too much serious!thinking input for this one purely because I don't want to be an imagination stealer...Plus, I think about two people are going to download this based on how many people in the world HAVEN'T SEEN THIS INCREDIBLE MOVIE.
As usual, I only picked songs that evoked a certain kind of feeling or had a specific sound. Innocence, faraway places, love, and intrigue are recurring themes in this fanmix and although the Bandit/Evelyn are my favorite thing ever, there are traces of the friendship between Alexandria and Roy as well as the ruined relationship between Roy/his Ex in here. Certain songs were chosen to portray Alexandria's imagined, fantasy world and others were picked specifically to illustrate Roy's depressing reality. You can guess which songs belong to which reality. Instead of using lyrics to illustrate song choices, I've chosen to use mini picspams and quotes from the movie simply because I think it communicates better while still being a little vague. Tarsem left the ending of the film open to interpretation in regards to Roy's fate, saying that he enjoyed seeing which people were optimists, pessimists, or i-dont-care-ists based on their predictions. I did the same for this fanmix. Hope you enjoy!
