In homage of a show which has never, in twenty one years, failed to make me gasp in wonderment like a little girl, I bring you a picspam of my favorite costumes from Kooza!
At the heart of Kooza lies genuine lightheartedness and whimsicality. It tells the story of the Innocent, a melancholy loner in search of his place in the world. He meets the charming Trickster (played by a stunning and incredibly hot Jason Berrent) who takes him on a journey through the world of Kooza where he meets a panoply of characters. Behold!
The costumes of Kooza are a feast for the imagination. In true Cirque du Soleil style, they draw inspiration from numerous sources, but what struck me as most fascinating was the focus on toy-themed costumes. Because we view the world of Kooza through the eyes of such a childlike character, toy soldiers, music boxes, and jack-in-the-boxes serve as a driving force behind most of the costume stories.
Ok and here is where I fangirl because I absolutely ADORE the solo trapeze costume. She looks like a phoenix, there's a heart on her chest, and her jacket even looks a little Asian-influenced. Plus, the Phoenix (which is what I will refer to her as for the rest of my life)/Trickster chemistry is SO CUTE that I am shipping them for life.
This was incredibly hard to cap, by the way, because everyone is in motion all the time and everything kept coming out blurry.
Brace yourselves because KA is next.
