pagan poetry A QUIET FURY
on the surface simplicity
but the darkest pit in me
it's pagan poetry
on the surface simplicity
swirling black lilies totally ripe
but the darkest pit in me
it's pagan poetry

palads**CAMELOT AND NIGHTMARES
the palace is frozen into the innermost part
pearl ice
the windows are covered in frost and lines
whoever dares to go out will be run over three times
and under heavy duvets you dream about all kinds of bugs
about damp, sticky, crackling wings
about not being able to survive it.

I wish I could say the same of myself, that im in perfect harmony
that i do not use the sword of my tongue to lash out at the enemy
i wish i could stay in the present day not lapsing into vicious sleep
cause it gives my bones a brand shiny new home -- one that does not confine me

glassMORGANA LE FAY
I will rise now
And go about the city
In the street's
Broadways I seek
Him whom my soul loveth
Went over the sea
What did I find?
A thousand crystal towers
A hundred emerald cities
And the hand of the watchman
In the night sky
Points to my beloved
A knight in crystal armour

Morgana: a broken beauty with a dangerous, underlying quiet fury and a tragic destiny. My goal was to show corruption/decay/downfall/falling apart in as chronological a manner as possible, so that the songs start off sounding more or less pretty but then start to sound increasingly odd and discordinant. To show Morgana's inner struggle I really tried to find songs that had conflicting sounds, songs that had delicate verses with harsher choruses and vice versa (which you can hear in Slo Fuzz, Move, and a little bit in Palads**). I just really wanted it to teeter on the brink of sounding either delicate or dangerous, but to overall have a lonely ambience to it. The songs I chose are mostly cold and noisy or quiet and lonely. I also wanted to touch on Morgana's growing anxiousness and desperation, so I threw in some songs that make me feel a little anxious. Girl with Two Souls gives me the creeps, really, and the avril puzzle remix of Desert sounds like the perfect soundtrack to a manic nightmare. Also, the three instrumental songs are integral to Morgana's voice. The first, The Two Moon Princesses, has an overall magical, beautiful kind of feeling, but with a twinge of underlying sadness. The Girl with Two Souls has no singer, but it sounds creepy, distant, and cold. The final instrumental song, For Annaliese Michel finds it's voice again, but this time it is purely haunting and evil, nothing like the one we heard in The Two Moon Princesses.
Overall this mix is about viewing Morgana's character as a slow dying flower, completely falling apart and becoming a shadow of what she was before. I also threw in some Morgana/Arthur because I love angst and doomed romance.
* Primavera was a song I originally intended to use as the first song on this album to introduce Morgana, but I thought that The Two Moon Princesses accomplished what I wanted it to in a better way. I love this song to death, though, so I included it as a bonus prelude sort of as a "This is what people see her as" and to serve as a reflection song. Whereas Primavera sounds so lovely, For Annaliese Michele, for example, is the complete opposite.
**The story with Palads is that it is actually sung in Danish, which I love because it further illustrates how Morgana is thrown into a disorienting situation which she does not understand. Basically, it wasn't an accident that I chose a song that wasn't written in English :)
PS: The bonus songs are not in the whole zip file.
