"There are no ordinary cats"

Nov 13, 2006 20:44

We got a letter today. It's from Dr. Gretchen Statz, the vet who euthanized Tuesday and was with us the whole time. She expressed her deepest sympathies, in gorgeous handwriting, inside a card whose cover showed a black and white photo of a tabby sitting on a fence post, with the above quote at the bottom. Her thoughts are with us. We did a "kind thing" by choosing to let Tuesday go. Tuesday was "obviously very loved yet unfortunately very sick." That the veterinary doctor, this woman who we didn't even know before that sorrowful night, took the time to personally write us a letter and mail it... that just warms me so deeply.
I called and left a message for her, with my profound thanks.
The sheer love, generosity, and compassion of some people truly never ceases to amaze me and melt me.

cats, tuesday, compassion, humanity
