I'm doing it anyway

Between breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner today, I ate less than 1200 calories, yet I feel unbelievably full and bloated. I suppose that's the fault of the toasted half bagel with cream cheese (I gave Steve the other half). Breakfast was a Zoe Foods bar, Chocolate Delight. Lunch was microwavable Michelina's Mac n' Cheese, with half a tiny bag of ( Read more... )

A nutritionist would probably say that you should take in at least a couple servings of vegetables or fruit through the day...I mean, in addition to what you have eaten, not instead. :)
Good nutrition does help with energy levels, maybe look at mapping out adding in a salad or a piece of fruit to your meals if this is a representative food intake for you.

I've been working on eating a piece of fruit for breakfast every day -- outside my office building there is normally a street vendor every day, you know the ones with those big enclosed carts that sell candy and hot dogs? This one has fresh apples and bananas, and I've been working on one a day. Fifty cents isn't bad for a fruit breakfast; it's better than bacon and eggs. I've also been considering a salad or veggie wrap at lunch, or some kind of vegetable to nibble on. Do you have any suggestions?
I am extremely partial to avocado, carrots, romaine lettuce, raw tomato, alfalfa sprouts, and cucumbers.
In fact, a local deli near work makes a sandwich called Avocado Dream: Mashed avocado, romaine, cucumbers, tomato, sprouts, and cream cheese on pita bread; but I always get a spinach wrap instead of pita. It's five bucks, but lately I've been bringing lunch from home to save money.

I also love love LOVE peanut butter and grape jam on whole wheat or multi grain bread.

Oh, I love avocado sandwiches!
Cucumbers are really good with hummus, also cheaper than the ingredients for assembling a whole wrap, and cucumber helps digestion too. :)
I'm not good myself about eating a whole breakfast, but I like a sliced apple with a little honey or peanut butter.
I eat cooked greens almost every day as part of dinner-- steamed bok choy, or sauteed spinach, that kind of thing.

Oh, I forgot about hummus. I just discovered it. My second favorite sandwich to eat out on my lunch break is called the Emily Dickinson, at Olsson's Book Store Cafe: Hummus, portobello mushrooms, eggplant, sprouts, and bell peppers on sun-dried tomato bread.

I wish I could eat cooked spinach more often. It gives me horrible stomach pains. A lot of cooked bitter greens do that to me for some reason.

That seems to happen to me on a regular basis. I can just have a peanut butter sandwhich and I'll leave feeling bloated. It always catches me off guard, I often wonder if it's because of the vitamins I'm taking now. I recently discovered the traditional bagel sandwhich. Smoked salmon, chream cheese, lettus, tomato, a slice of cheese and onions. Heaven. It's soo tastey but it REALLY fills me up, still a feeling I see as negative.

I realized a few days ago that my face has rounded out considerably. I don't know how I feel about it either. I like the fact I don't have such a long face any more, but it's odd. Pete adores it, says that it makes my already great smile even better. Then again, he's into cute cheeks which you need weight to have. ;)

Yeah, when I was sick my cheeks were so thin and hollow that opening my mouth wide when kissing Adam actually hurt, because the insides of my cheeks were pressing against my teeth. It's much better to have some fullness, but I still don't really feel okay about it. I used to have nightmares about my face getting rounder and rounder, because it took years to lose my baby fat in my face.

My first thought was that your body must be crying out for some fresh fruit and veg. I shouldn't worry about feeling full on such a small amount as long as it isn't happening every day.

I give you a fresh strawberry with a dollop of fresh cream :-)
