At the time of this writing, I am sitting in Adam's car in the parking lot of the Hilton hotel in McLean, not too far from the Tysons Corner shopping center. I accompanied Adam to his job in said hotel, which would involve setting up and watching over a tech fair.
This morning, three hours after we arrived, I took the shuttle to the shopping center. Really there were only two reasons for me to walk into Tysons One, and one of those reasons was a rare occurrence.
The shuttle dropped off at the Macy's entrance, so I took advantage of that, heading to the Origins counter and exchanging the Poppy lipstick for Dahlia, my preferred color. I love that name, Dahlia. After that I made a beeline for my rare occurrence: Sephora. The only ways I can physically enter a Sephora anywhere near my home is to either take a train and a bus into Bethesda, or come here to Tysons Corner. I knew what I wanted, anyway: Josie Maran lipstick in Desirous and Fresh Umbrian Clay Concealer in Shade 1. I had a gift certificate that I had not used, so I put it to use. Afterward, I headed almost at a skip toward Barnes & Noble. I haven't skipped since I was a child. Usually it is too painful. I walked into the book behemoth and my entire body sighed and gasped in relief, "BOOOOKS." I only walked out with CE Murphy's Walking Dead and Daniel Doen Silberberg's Wonderland: The Zen of Alice. But simply being in the store was like walking through a spa.
I took the next shuttle back, because two and a half hours of walking was enough. I was starting to hurt. I didn't need to be in a giant mall any longer. The exercise had been more than worth it, but I wanted to relax elsewhere.
Back at the Hilton, I sat outside on a bench and read while Adam occasionally stepped out on breaks to say hello, or to give me a brownie. He then offered his laptop and the car, which could charge the laptop. Here I am. It is such an amazingly gorgeous day, it is almost not November.
Also, I had coffee, which sometimes acts like a pain reliever and smooth muscle relaxant, so I am a tad giddy.
stuff,
good day
