The oldschoolfic back-to-school ficathon prompts are now available for claiming, and there were 15 Forever Knight prompts to start.  To review, the game is to pick a prompt, write a story (500 words or more), and post it to the community by September 30, and yep, you don't need to have submitted a prompt in order to claim one ( Read more... )

Oh darn it! I kept meaning to post prompts and it completely passed me by. However you certainly did a great job of representing FK. I tip my hat to you, especially for the "Spin Doctor" Nick prompt. It's right in line with a prompt I wanted to post.

I'm gonna take your Cohen prompt for a spin. 500 words by September 30th shouldn't be too hard, right, lol. ::kicks my lazy muse::

Oh, this was great news! I'm delighted that you will be playing. And thank you for the compliment on the prompts.

>"It's right in line with a prompt I wanted to post."

This is excellent, too. Your remark moved me to go claim the "Spin Doctor" prompt, because this makes it feel more like I'm writing for a concept someone else might like to read, and not only for a prompt I gave myself (which is okay, but just a different dynamic).

Might you share what you had in mind? You don't have to! I was thinking that if they were compatible, I might merge them...

I hope the Captain Cohen prompt works for you! (Now, I did see you post a Masters of the Universe thing, recently, right?)

I always appreciated that Nick took the initiative to educate himself. A formal classroom setting may have been a bit difficult but not entirely impossible in some variation with the availability of independent study and night classes. As a vampire with the entire world at his fingertips Nick could have very easily chosen to utilize the school of life rather than a structured academic setting but he didn't. Heck even by choosing law enforcement as a way of giving back he had to pursue formal training at an academy. To me that really emphasizes Nick's desire to learn and grow as an individual ( ... )

>"Scholar!Nick."

Hopefully, my ficathon story will be one to add to this collection. ~fingers crossed~ Thank you for sharing your thoughts on that; it helped me think of the prompt as hot just one I'd generated myself.

>"Other than Kathy Whelton's "Making Amends" I really haven't seen much fic that centers on Cohen so I think this'll be a nice opportunity."

There's very, very little, and Kathy W.'s "Making Amends" is good. I seem to recall that Lisa McD. once wrote a vignette about Cohen, but those are the only two that pop to mind!
