Oakland A's vs. Arizona Diamondbacks
I'm finally getting around to telling y'all about my first MLB game experience. =)
I left the house Sunday around 9:15 for the two hour drive to Pleasanton, to wiccagirl24's house. Forgot the directions and had to turn around. The drive was good, great music and I was getting excited about seeing the game.
Got there on time and finally got to meet Sarah and she says they're giving away condiment dispensers free at the stadium so we forget lunch and drive to the bart station. Forgive me for being from Madera, but I love the BART. I really do. So after I snafu the ticket thing we are finally able to get tickets and get out on the platform. We start talking Firefly, and NCIS and writing and we talked all lllllll day. We talked about college and family and writing and everything.
At the stadium I told her to be prepared for me to say OMG and possibly cry. So we finally find our section walk down some stairs and omgwtf Barry Zito is warming up like not five feet from me. I almost died. I'm welling up and am like omg, omg omg omg. I can see his birthmark he's so close and I'm freaking out. The stadium is absolutely beautiful and there were so manypeople.
So where we were I can see Gonzo perfectly and Craig has his fine little ass in my face. I can't believe it. I'm in awe.
We ate pizza and carrots and candy and it was yummy. We got soda's in really cool green plastic cups which thanks to Sarah I have a full set of four.
The guys in front of us seemed to not like that I was rooting for both teams. Even when we were just chatting about NCIS or talking plot bunnies he'd turn and look at us and I'm like dude, wtf?
And then Barry walked Shawn Green and then the Diamondbacks won and it was sooooo cool! I got to see Frank Thomas hit a home run which even though I don't like Thomas, was cool to see a home run.
I got a Barry Zito shirt and an antenna ball for the mom because they didn't have mugs.
We went back to Sarah's house and sat and talked shop for hours! It was so awesome talking with omeon who know exactly wha tit's like to write NCIS fic and loves them exactly as much as I do. We watched an ep of MI-5 otherwise known as Spooks with Anthony Micheal Head and Hugh Laurie and she showed me a couple eps of Blackadder which is being shipped by BB.com! Wohoo! We looked at pictures and wallpapers and talked about plot bunnies.
I seriously had the time of my life. It was worth the drive and the horrendous sunburn that hurts like a beotch and I cannot WAIT to go again. I couldn't live that close without having season tickets.
I still wish I'd jumped the fence and tackled, and raped Craig Counsell. Who knows when that type of opportunity will come again.
So thank you SARAH! Soooo much, I had soo much fun and you win at life for putting up with me. =)
