For the record, this dumb crush isn't as bad as my previous ones, say, with signor Vinci and the professor. I just roll with it to give some pretense of excitement to my life.
Can you blame me? Tall + stocky/chubby + athlete + Atenean* + asshole = jackpot! My type of manly man.
My friends try to set me up with geeks, and I attract geeks too, because I'm a bit of a geek-I'll admit that. But I really prefer meatheads.
(Especially when they're shy, self-deprecating, brooding loners who share the same birthday with me.)
(*Even if he doesn't have the brains or socio-economic background of a typical one. Royal blue or white makes anyone look better in my eyes.)
I also have a reputation of being a health buff in the office, so a co-worker asked me out of the blue one time if I wanted a health-conscious husband (which was how I started to suspect that he liked me...and he did). I think I just shrugged indifferently and answered, "Not really," because I am, in fact, a chubby chaser.

I am also liking basketball for the trash talking, specifically for those who can back it up with great plays. I'm sure they do it too in football, but the cameras are so far off, it doesn't really get the action. My dad's been telling me about Trash Talk King
Larry Bird's antics, and I'd be rolling over in laughter and in awe.
Ryan is as well-versed with taunting, made even more fun when he's up against La Salle's Joshua Webb-they've been pitted against each other since their mutual debut college game last year. My dad keeps rewinding the scene Ryan makes the travelling violation signal right in Webb's face, after the latter was called for it. A spectator at last Sunday's game also reported that Ryan made a beeline for Webb before he was benched for the final time, stood beside him, and pointed at the scoreboard when Ateneo had a commanding lead.
Isn't he awesome? <3 Ah, if only the boy can be as good in his academics as he is as clever with his taunts.
What's in the water at San Sebastian? Some of the best UAAP players right now were Baste' boys in high school (although SSC-R's college team plays in a different league, the local NCAA). Their plays (and taunts) carry a trademark street savoir-faire-they're the ones who steal and hustle the most. I've also noticed all the SSC-R alum shoot late in the air while descending from a jump, and they're the ones who have the most fun when pitted against each other in college.
Off on a tangent, I say "Guapo!" every time Nico Salva or Oping Sumalinog are shown. (Their pics
here don't do them justice. I think they're even more telegenic than they are photogenic.) I would say that about Vince Burke too, if only he actually got playing time. We've been watching game DVDs every night now. I think I'm even getting sick of them.

One more thing. I have been trying to stop calling Ryan "Bébé". I would just blurt it out while watching games. "Stop calling him that! He has a name!" Brother 2 would growl at me. Then at the next second, he'd say, "Hey! It's your Bébé!" Idiot. It's reached the point where my dad and Therese call him Bébé too.
I guess it's stuck.

I have to download:
- The Practice, seasons 6 and 8-the James Spader season!
- Mad Men. That Jon Hamm is drool-worthy, indeed.
- Rome, because there's this Roman history podcast that reminds me of the aforementioned snarky professor
Listening to: Kate Earl, who sounds like Lily Allen without the Mockney accent, as endorsed by Tristan Prettyman
Want: A cookie
Miss: Ryan Buenafe on offense
Worship: Ryan Buenafe the playmaking decoy. Holy shit. He didn't get a lot of playing time in the last game, but his plays were dazzling to watch. Although I do tear the hair out of my head when he looks like he's about to shoot, and he passes the ball instead.
Love: The expression BV ("bad vibes"). It's the new "bad trip".
Hate: When my well-made plans get screwed up by other people's spur-of-the-moment plans
