Oh man I totally thought I was done with the 2013 recaps (aka the year before last) and then I remembered I hadn't done a Costume Year in Review!!! So here it is, the last of the 2013 recap posts (before I start the 2014 posts).

In 2012, here's what I said I'd make in 2013:

1. Rebel Pilot for me! Still nope. Maybe in 2015?
2. Sekrit SDCC Masquerade costumes (there will be many costumes, mostly alike, let's put it that way) YES! Our "Tatooine" Masquerade went swimmingly.
3. Scarlett's "shantytown" dress for a GWTW group at D*C. Yes, the trim is insane. Yes, I'm going to start early. Really. Group didn't happen.
4. Mayyyyybe Rapunzel? I keep almost doing it. Nope! Not yet!
5. Whatever else comes up! As always, so many things came up!

So here's the stuff I made/put together/bought/otherwise acquired in 2013!

1. Captain America running costume

.

I made this for the 2013 WDW Marathon, since Ron had originally planned to be Tony Stark for that race. It's become one of my favorite running outfits!

2-3. Peter Pan & Crocodile running costumes

Both of these were for the 2013 Princess Half Marathon. My Peter Pan was pretty much bought with some slight alterations; for Sean's Crocodile I modified a baseball hat and made the giant Run-DMC-esque clock out of fun foam.

4-11. Seven Dancing Jawas and Uncle Owen

.

SDCC Masquerade! Jennifer and I made seven identical Jawa robes, I made seven ruffly pettiskirts and seven black head-socks, Stepka wired seven sets of glowing Jawa eyes, the boys made seven bandoliers, and Jennifer and I knocked out the Owen costume (with crucial parts borrowed from Dad's General Dodonna). The whole thing came together beautifully and we won three awards (Most Humorous, Audience Favorite, Sideshow Collectibles)!

12. Minionette (Despicable Me)

Janine and Ron were going to be Lucy and Gru so I wanted to join in as a Minion! A Goodwill trip yielded a denim jumper and black boots, Target provided a yellow shirt, and I made a yellow petticoat from the leftover Jawa fabric and calf sleeves from a spare T-shirt. BANANA!

13. Lightning Bolts

For Odin! For Asgard! Betsy invited me to join this group and we had such an amazing time! The corset bases and boots were bought but we made everything else.

14. New Black Widower jumpsuit

An assist on this one-- Rogue bought a wetsuit, and I covered up the front logo, converted it from a back zipper to a front zipper, and added a collar.

15. Nike, Goddess of Victory

For my cousin Erin's daughter, who requested a very specific character look.

16. Tiny Princess Thor

For Wee Cordelia!

17. An elephant cushion- not a costume but I'm including it anyway!

18. Star Trek TOS dress- bought from Anovos!

Why make something when there's a company selling a version that's better than you could make for a perfectly reasonable price? I love my dress!
