Happy New Year, everyone. I celebrated by spending Saturday sick in bed, nauseated and shivery, and then today trying to convince my stomach that food was not evil and, in fact, necessary for life. It wasn't all bad, though, because
sirrogue was a total sweetie, waited on me hand and foot, and cheerfully mainlined S1 of Gilmore Girls with me (
portnoyslp and
mary_linton own the first three seasons, yay!). We just finished episode 19, Emily in Wonderland. Conclusions so far: we love Michel, Luke, and Lane, and OMG TALKING SO FAST. And if someone could point me toward some snarky Paris icons, that'd be awesome.
Also I now have Sky High on my computer so I can watch Warren Peace whenever I want!
ETA: Here is
a New Year's meme:
1. What did you do in 2005 that you'd never done before?
Went to a Star Wars Celebration! And, uh, left school.
2. Did you keep your NY's resolutions, & will you make more for 2006?
I don't remember making any last year. Won't make any formal ones this year, but once I get back to San Diego the exercise program is going back in full swing.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes!!!
wendyhouse gave birth to
Nicholas Edward, my sweetest and best bitty boy, who is growing up
MUCH TOO FAST OMG.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Yes, my husband's grandmother. Rest in peace, Grandma.
5. What countries did you visit?
Nowhere, alas. Fingers crossed for New Zealand sometime in the next couple of years.
6. What would you like to have in 2006 that you lacked in 2005?
Money.
7. What date from 2005 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
February 10th, a day of serious emotional highs and lows. We got word that the Musical Edition had been approved for performance at Celebration III. Then we got the budget, and it was nowhere near enough to get us there, so we weren't going to be able to do it. And then we looked at the numbers a little harder and realized it just might be possible. Runners-up: April 19th, the day we piled onto a bus and left for CIII; May 21st, Dan and
blusurfer's wedding; June 23rd, the Serenity screening where we met Joss; November 11th, opening night of the Trilogy Musical Edition.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Hm. Probably the costumes for Celebration III, since it was done on so little time and with so few of us.
9. What was your biggest failure?
All the stuff I didn't get done for CIII, and the number of times I freaked out and yelled at people. Also, not finishing Rogue's browncoat for Comic-Con.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I've been sick on and off since closing night of the Musical, Nov. 20. *kicks immune system*
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Serenity preview screening tickets!
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
carbon_scoring, whose calmness and togetherness in the face of unimaginable amounts of stress was amazing. Nori, you're awesome.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Our government.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Food. Travel. Rent on the San Diego apartment we aren't living in right now.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Going to synchro Nationals for the first time in ten years and having my mommy see me skate. CIII. Meeting Joss at Comic-Con. Having Club Jade come and see the Musical Edition. Seeing Goblet of Fire with my friends.
16. What song will always remind you of 2005?
"America, Fuck Yeah" from Team America: World Police. (It makes sense, I swear.)
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier.
ii. richer or poorer? Poorer.
iii. thinner or fatter? Fatter. :( Stress po-ta-to.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Going out and meeting actual people in San Diego.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
BEING ON THE INTERNET.
20. How will you be spending the holidays?
We went to my parents in Maryland. Stayed at my mom's house, but my dad and brother came over every day.
21. Which LJ people did you meet this year?
All the Costuming & Props girls, at CIII!
kay_dee70,
ladysonnet,
padawansguide, and
sistersola. I had also technically met
scendan and
kelbebop before, but I got to know them a lot better. :) Does it count that I met
azarsuerte IRL at Comic-Con and then added her to my flist?
22. Did you fall in love in 2005?
How can anyone not fall in love with
this face???
24. What was your favorite TV program?
BEE ESS GEE. (The new Battlestar Galactica.) Honorable mention to the amazing cracktasticness of Stargate: Atlantis.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I wouldn't go so far as to say hate. Strong dislike, yes.
26. What was the best book you read?
Gyaah. Um. Honestly don't remember. The most recent book I really enjoyed was Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Fellowship: The Musical.
28. What did you want and get?
The Firefly and BSG soundtracks!!!
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
Hard one. Probably Serenity.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned 24, and it was the first read-through of the Trilogy Musical Edition. There was cake. We used the same candles that were on my 21st birthday cake, which was at a board meeting. Have I mentioned how much I love MTG, and how much of my life is tied up in it?
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Financial security.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2005
Relaxed-fit jeans, fitted tees, and zip-up hoodies.
34. What kept you sane?
Jon Stewart and contact with my faraway friends through LJ, messageboards, and email. And the knowledge that I could leave school and things would still be okay.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Er, I don't really have a ready answer for this one. Brad and Angelina were *awfully* hot in Mr. and Mrs. Smith, though.
37. Who did you miss?
schneck128. Everyone in Boston and everyone in San Diego (at different times). My family.
