I’m in the process of trying to recreate my favorite mix tape from high school. Actually, it wasn’t mine. I borrowed it from Josh who somehow got it from Margo. The songs are written in Margo’s handwriting and “Margo’s Tape” is written in Josh’s handwriting. I gave the tape back to Josh years ago, but I still have the case. The songs remind me of driving around with friends or my little sister in my white '86 4-Runner. Right now I’m only missing one song, and I think I’ll have to buy an entire album to get the one song.
Kiss Them for Me - Siouxsie & the Banshees
Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go - Soft Cell
Where the Streets Have No Name - U2
Enjoy the Silence - Depeche Mode
Always - Erasure
One - U2
A Letter to Elise - The Cure
Pure - The Lightning Seeds
Noah's Dove - 10,000 Maniacs
Stay - Belly
The Lovecats - The Cure
A Rush and a Push and the Land is Ours - The Smiths
Liberty - Kon Kan
Going, Going, Gone - Information Society
Fantastic Dream - Alphaville (this is the one I’m missing)
Lessons in Love - Level 42
Everlasting Love - Howard Jones
Suburbia - Pet Shop Boys
If You Leave - Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark
Can't Help Falling in Love - Lick the Tins
I have no idea where Margo is these days, but I’d like to give copies of the mix CD to Josh and my little sister Amanda. Maybe I’ll be able to find an album with the missing song when I’m in Albuquerque. I’ll probably have to order it online, though.
