So forget everything I've talked about (regarding boys) in the last 3 weeks.
I now have a boyfriend. His name is Jason. He's Jewish and from Long Island but doesn't look/act/talk like what you think. He's short (gawdamn) but that's okay. He's blond-ish. And I like him.
The only outstanding problems are that I met him through this guy Kevin who I've known for awhile and has a pretty not-subtle crush on me...they happen to be really close friends. Hm. The other thing I need to do is tell Ryan. Not a fun conversation to have. Other than that though things are good.
That being established, I'm going to try to talk about boys less on this thing, because it's gotten ridiculous and contrary to popular belief I do have other things going on in my life.
Classes are okay. Human Learning and Memory is probably my favorite, and even it's not that fabulous. The stuff is interesting and the professor is decent and although we haven't had a test yet, the quizzes have been fair and easy. Psych Stats is boring, pretty easy (although apparently it gets harder soon), but my main problem with it is that the book talks down to us because it knows that whoever's reading it is a student of the social sciences. I can't count how many times the guy has been like "don't worry, it's not really math," or, "it's okay, you won't have to memorize these formulas, just look them over." Hello, I'm a psychology student, not RETARDED. Don't patronize me, book. Anyway, then there's Philosophy of Mind, which I wouldn't dislike all that much if it weren't for the students in the class with me and the readings. Also, we had our first test last time and today he came in telling us that he's never had a class do so poorly and that he was "personally offended" and has no moral objections to failing half the class if it keeps up that way. I haven't picked mine up yet and I'm scared. Microeconomics is not terrible but the teacher is. And Language Culture and Society has really interesting concepts but the professor just likes to give us tons of examples of every concept from tons of different languages that really aren't necessary. Last class we watched parts of the movie Alexander and talked about the differences in the accents and what they meant. It was interesting, except that for the hour and a half class we probably watched about 15 minutes of film, talked for maybe 40 minutes, and spent the rest of the time watching him fail at being able to work a DVD player.
I just really hope that I didn't reach the pinnacle of good classes in freshman year. Aren't they supposed to get better? I also don't understand why I'm a Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology major if I hate all my philosophy classes and probably aren't going to end up taking any neuroscience anyway. One of the mysteries of life, I guess.
Anyway, besides boys and school, life is chill. I love my suite and I've managed to keep in contact with the people I want to...not that very many of them moved off the floor, but a couple did. I was hoping having our own common rooms wouldn't stop the open-door, party-crashing dynamic of the floor, and although it's a little different, people are still active and hanging out. Yay.
I think that's it for now. And I didn't even say "in other news."
