So I resigned my lease. At 27 bucks more a month.

Plus Now I'm putting money into 401(k).

Plus I am letting Unky Sam take more money beforehand. (1/0 instead of 3/1).

Anybody need a room in Wood Dale, IL?

Next Week, WW Update!

The increased rent doesn't seem like to big of a deal, though it still ads up over time.

Starting the 401(k) now isn't a bad thing, really. Nor is having more taxes taken out up front a bad thing, either. It just means you're likely to have a larger return next year.

Oh I agree.

It's just that I'm not paid all that much. Rent + Food = About 70% of monthly salary.

That's the problem.

Hence, roommate, or I start spending less.

I started the 401(k) on purpose heh.

I dunno, we'll see what my refund comes out to next year.

Thanks for the comments Nate!

Using Uncle Samwise as a savings account is a terrible idea. It's much better to have the extra $20 or so direct deposited into a savings account. That way, you have it if you ever need to cover bills for a month (no expensive late fees) and you get the interest on it, instead of Uncle Sam. The only time you should increase your tax payments is if you end up having to fork over a hefty chunk of sum all at once.

Sum was hefty to Unky Sam, unfortunately :-(
