I can't believe it has been over two weeks since the best day of the year... i.e. Halloween. My friends and I always dress up thematically. In first year we were Greek goddesses, in second year we were the ninja turtles and in third year we were different cereal box characters. This year we went as different types of eggs. I dressed up as eggs and soldiers, meaning I wore army gear and an egg made out of bristol board. This also means random people could not, for the life of them, figure out what I was...even though it was written on my back. Lots of people guessed "army egg" whatever the heck that is. The night however, was thankfully salvaged by lots of egg puns and egg-innuendos. Egguendos?
Anyone who knows me well, knows that Halloween is my all time favorite holiday. When it's over, I cry a million tears because it's one of the few instances when people give without expecting to receive. The idea of handing out candy to already hyperactive sugar-gorged children just to see them smile is brilliant. I think humanity owes the paranoid Celts big time. My nephew apparently went as a cat but I have yet to see pictures. When I was home for Thanksgiving weekend he was meow-meowing all over the place to get into character. I love that kid.
I feel like what I'm writing is really disjointed. If it is, it's because I've been holed up for the past two weeks attempting to churn out papers and assignments and tests and I really can't believe I'm alive to tell the tale.
Other random bits of information:
1) I saw Science of Sleep which, conceptually worked really well, as did the direction. My only complaint was that the writing and dialogue were lacking at times. Mr. Gondry has to step it up a wee bit.
2) On the topic of films, I got the festival internship that I applied for! I was told after my week of academic insanity which made up for all the torture. When they called, she told me "I'm just calling to let you know about the results of our interviews", at which point I was pretty much expecting a no, because it's fairly competitive. Instead, she followed up by "we were really impressed when we met with you".... I probably said thank you a hundred times. Overkill? Probably... but I was jumping around and just so ecstatic.
3) We followed up the night with the latest episode of One Tree Hill which is such an amazing show. It's funny that I can analyze and decipher the ways they make it addictive but I just don't care. It's fan-freaking-tastic.
4) I'm going to do a whole lot of nothing this weekend...and try not to feel bad about it for once!
