Lesson of the Day : I Still Fail at Research

Well, I haven't tried this yet, so...

Poll

Which is the goofiest name for a-- no, I swore I wouldn't try to aggravate her.

Here we are, born to be kings
We're the princes of the universe
Here we belong, fighting to survive
In a world with the darkest powers
And here we are, we're the princes of the universe
Poll . . . . . what the heck? Where did this ( Read more... )

research, finding a way out, poll, exits, i'm not giving up dammit, princes of the universe, curse, affected, fighting the curse, highlander curse, there can be only one!

I'm afraid I wasn't able to answer all the questions on your survey. My circumstances were rather unusual. I'm not the first version of me to come here, but I don't remember being here before. And from what I understand, the other version actually came from a later point in my life than I did.

Thank you, any help is greatly appreciated! Lots of people seem to not remember being in the city when they return... we're not quite sure whether it's because they're a slightly different version of themselves, from a different point in time, or simply forgot about the city when they left the place.

I don't suppose you know if the first you remembered being here before?

No. Nobody told me if she remembered being there before or if she was the first version or not. I'd been assuming she was the first ... but perhaps there were others before her, too.

It's certainly possible, the citizens of the city seem to changeover quite a lot. And I don't think there's anyone currently here who was around before two years ago, so who knows what was going on then. Oh well, at least it's interesting to note...

. . . so, you're staying safe during this curse?

It is strange. I don't think anyone really knows what to make of it.

... yes. I'm on holy ground. Are you?

It certainly adds to the chaos that the city seems to thrive on.

That's good! So holy ground is sanctuary for this? As for me, I've locked myself away... I also have a sword today, so I'm not sure how well I can be trusted.

Yes ...

That seems to be the case. Are you all right? No one's come after you, have they?

Well, it's good we at least have sanctuaries today. That makes it better than the witch hunt curse, at least. I'm fine, I had a bit of a run in with a city watch member earlier today, but I'm a healer so it's all right. Just be careful of everyone with a sword today? Or I suppose, anyone trying to lure you out of the holy ground.

There are some small blessings to be grateful for, yes. ...Wait, "witch hunt curse?" What happened?

And I will you. You take care of yourself too, all right?

And quite a few of the affected don't seem to know how to use swords anyway... Ah, for five days half of the city hunted down the magic users or anyone deemed too strange. And considering that description fits most of the city, things got... messy.

Right! I'm Riou, by the way, pleased to meet you.

... There is that. It makes me worry, though. I don't the affected people putting themselves in danger anymore than I want them hurting anyone else, though. ... What?!

I'm Mudou Sara! The pleasure is all mine, Riou-san.

Normally since I'm part of the city watch I'd be out there trying to stop people, but that's probably not wise today considering I'm affected myself. Hopefully the unaffected will be able to subdue the ones acting violent. Last October was a bad month for curses. They've been pretty mild lately, so I was hoping...

From Earth, right? I've been meaning to ask... what do those titles mean that people put on the ends of names? -san, -kun, -chan etc?

I hope so, too. I'd go out and try to stop it myself, but I don't know what I'd actually be able to do, for one thing, and one of my friends is affected and I can't let her out of my sight, for another. It makes me mad that I can't do anything, though. I feel so sick with all the bloodshed and pain happening around me. I liked the singing one. And the art one. And the animal one. Why can't they all be like that?

... Oh. Yes, from Earth. Japan. Um ... they're honorifics. -san is like, I don't know English customs very well, but I think it's the equivalent of "Mr." or "Ms."

Keeping an eye out on your friend is helping plenty. The less people on the streets with swords right now, the better. The curses have been pretty fun since that alien invasion. One thing to hope for is that after these really bad curses, everyone tends to come fully back to life at midnight.

Ah, I see. We don't use titles much back where I come from, outside of noble or military ones. I hope people don't mind my not using them!

I don't really think she could do much damage, anyway. I'm more worried about her getting herself killed. ... Alien invasion?!

I don't think they'll mind! I'm sure they'll understand that's just how things are done where you're from.

That still helps, the less targets on the streets the better too. We have to watch out for our friends, the way things can be here.Yeah, they blew up the deities' office and said they were here to free us and take us home. But instead they were sticking people inside machines that just made them think they'd gone home. We ended up fighting them all over the city for a week or so.

Wouldn't want to inadvertantly offend anyone!
