Lesson of the Day : Home is Where the Heart is aka Notes are a Pain to Organize

Jun 11, 2007 20:00

So. I've been here for three or so months EDIT : a year and a half now, most of that time spent when not getting sidetracked trying to find a way out again. There's not much information that can be readily found about exits, and what little is available remains rather discouraging and doesn't add up to very much, but I've compiled various bits, ( Read more... )

exits, post that ate the network, notes, finding a way home

This is all really well thought out.

I've got the feeling that the time difference between this place and the outside world is different for each world it's connected to, personally.

Well, hopefully it may do someone else more good than it's done for me, so far.

That would make sense. I wonder if time passes the same for people from the same world though, as they can come from different time periods.

I think it could be quite helpful. You've got some things here that I don't think anyone's said before--we've got print-outs of all of the writings people've made since this time last year or so, and some of this hasn't been mentioned before.

I've no idea. Most of the time, the City and all the other worlds don't seem to connect with any rhyme or reason that I can tell.

You have all that? That's quite impressive. I'm not really any sort of scholar or researcher, so the way I've been going about things is probably pretty scattershot. I'm not sure what I may be retreading or what may be new...

Everything here seems rather random at times. Perhaps someone else can see a pattern I'm missing.

To be fair, a lot of what's been written is by my husband, which makes it easier to collect...but yeah, we've got most all of it. *grin* If you're interested in it, a lot of it's in the archives on the Interlink.

It does, doesn't it? Sometimes I wonder if the only people who could find all the patterns are the ones who aren't here--but it must be possible to figure it out from within this madhouse.

Ah, your husband is a researcher then? I should probably dig through the archives a bit more, then.

I wonder if the city refuses to bring the people here who stand the best chance of figuring it all out. None of my tacticians are here and... this is so not what I'm good at... so I'm probably just doing a poor impression of them at the moment.

Not exactly, but...getting out of the City is a puzzle we've been trying to figure out. Some of his older entries might be useful starting points.

I think there are plenty of people here who have the reasoning to get to the bottom of it, but exactly how this place works is so complicated that if it's ever all unraveled, it's going to take quite a bit of.

I suppose I should introduce myself--I'm Evey Hammond. Pleased to meet you. *grin*

Many puzzles to this city, and I confess, the "getting out" one interests me the most. Ah, I see... is this referencing the previous excursion to the clock mechanism that I've heard quite a bit about?

Mmm... and the city seems to be continuously throwing distractions at people as well. Well, hopefully we'll stand a better chance by pooling our resources. That way even if someone does manage to leave the city for good, at least the knowledge they've gained can be left behind to help others.

I'm Riou, please to meet you as well!

It interests me the most, too, though the end of all worlds comes as a close second. I'd hate to leave just for my home to be destroyed, after all. ...A lot of it is--all the City's mysteries are rather twisted together, if you know what I mean? But there are things about leaving in there, too.

Distractions indeed...we haven't had a really organized attempt among a lot of people to figure this out since this time last year or so. If we could pull something together again, the new mix of people might give us a better chance.

Yes, if I wasn't worried about some pressing responsibilities back home, the end of the worlds would certainly be the priority. It should probably be priority over even that, if I could just be sure that the deities and this entire place weren't simply yanking our chains.

Yes, I noticed in those old entries that many of those people don't appear to be here anymore. There was also that last bit a month of so ago with the animal collectors and sacrifices and whatnot that a few of us were trying to solve, but I don't think we really came together enough to figure anything out. I think the popular theory is that our sacrifices somehow reset the clock but-- it's definately something that should be looked into further.

That's the trouble with all of this--since we're in the middle of it, there's no way to know if they're truly planning to do it or not. One of the deities' bosses showed up to talk with the City once, though, and she seemed quite serious about it...though that doesn't prove anything, of course.

Yeah, a lot of them have gone, though some--Sir Hellsing and the angel Alexiel, for example--are still around. Hmm...Perhaps V and I should take a trip over to the clock mechanism soon and see what it looks like. Last time I was there, it was rusting over a bit--but that was while back.

There's so many things that would otherwise be impossible in this city already, that I suppose it being connected to the end of everything shouldn't be too unbelievable. Although most people here don't seem particularly worried.

Rather disturbing if the clock mechanism that controls the end of all worlds and is rusting over. I was imagining something more... grandiose, I suppose?

I don't know how much most of the people here know about all of that, to be honest. A lot of them have wrapped themselves up in the little problems of living here--they either don't see or don't want to see the problem where the universe might end.

...Well, knowing how this City is, they could be about to fall apart one day and looking brand new the next. Hopefully they're in better shape than that at the moment.

One would think that recent mess where the deities were threatening to destroy our homeworlds would bring that issue to the forefront but-- I guess their own problems from their own worlds seem a lot more imminent then some nebulous end of all worlds.

I certainly hope they're in good condition now! And I'm quite interested in whatever results you and your husband find this time, regardless.
