[The post clicks on, very obviously in the middle of something.]

The Light will not fail!

[In the back, there is a growing roar, along with strange sounds almost like speech but jumbled and broken. Elika's voice comes again, a faint cry of anger. The roar turns irrepressibly louder still and then suddenly there is silence... and an "oof!" from the ( Read more... )

[It takes him a few moments to really come to his senses. His head’s thick with images of darkness, light, and the world drained of color. He can still hear the Princess’s final shout echoing in his ears. He groans softly, relaxing his weight against the (surprising comfortable) cushion he was lucky enough (good old scarf) to land on.]

Ow.

[Elika is, in turn, out of breath, light fading slowly from her fingertips and hair. For a moment, her eyes are staring blankly at his scarf and shoulder, chest heaving. And then she groans in an attempt to move under his weight.]

Ow is right. You're...on top of me.

Oh.

[He says, like her claim explains everything, but he doesn’t budge from where he’s laying, sprawled out on top of her. Not immediately, anyway. He blinks his eyes open and, once he notices she actually is... underneath him, he lifts himself up on weak arms.]

Hi.

[Said, of course, with a half-lazy, half-exhausted grin.]

[He's not so heavy thankfully or she would be more upset. Instead, she's just relieved that Ahriman is no longer hovering above her, chasing her, trying to crush her light. She stares at him another moment before weakly laughing nervously, a chuckle or two.]

Hi.

[She closes her eyes and sighs.]

[His grin widens for a moment before he finally tucks one shoulder down and rolls off her. Rather than get up, though, he opts to stretch out beside her.]

L.

[When he rolls off, she softly winces and relaxes, stretched out on the ground as well. The aftermath of the Alchemist fight comes to mind and she opens her eyes, turning her head to look at him instead of sitting up. She should get up and go, leave him, tell him he nearly killed her.]

Are you still playing that game?

[Did the game ever stop?]

...Light?

[He looks to her out of the corner of his eye, his expression uncertain, then picks up the desperate laugh where she left it. His laughter lasts a good bit longer than hers did, but it’s filled with the same helpless relief.]

Lizard. Lizard.

[He gives her that one, possibly out of guilt for attacking her in the form of some nutcase dark god, possibly out of fear that she won’t grace him with a second guess if he says ‘no’.]

Oh... Man. [A deep, satisfying sigh.] ... You’re okay, right?

[At least he's laughing this time. It grates on her to hear but it's not roaring. Or taunting.]

Lizard. Right. Was that what it was before, too, a few days ago?

[Elika sighs and slowly lifts herself to a sitting position.]

Of course; being chased by an angry God is what I do all the time. [A beat.] ...Yes, I'm okay.

[Silence is his answer. He folds his arms under his head and for once can't bring himself to direct his gaze toward her. Looking into her eyes seems an impossible challenge.]

Don't get used to that hobby.

[He warns, a tiny quirk of a grin on his mouth.]

You won't know what to do with yourself when we defeat him and he's gone for good.

[She assumes the answer would be yes anyway. She glances down at him once, however, before slowly attempting to get to her feet.]

I'm not sure what I would do anyway.

[She pauses.]

If he can be stopped. [She looks away, sighing.] When he is stopped.
