Poor Sadie has proven to get really car sick, so after her 4.5 hour ordeal, she really didn't want to do much more than sleep. She's got such a sweet personality though, always wanting to be near you and sleep on top of you. She hadn't walked on a lead before, but she took to it fast ( Read more... )

Okay, big puppy, but I am super excited to be driving out to pick up a 5-month-old Irish Setter puppy in a few days. (She's already 30 lbs!)

Her parents are gorgeous. I'll definitely be updating with cute half-grown puppy pictures next week.

And because I don't have any puppy pictures yet... I bring you the terribly lovely parents:

Aya has been in and out of the vet hospital all year with bladder problems, estrogen deficiencies, ear infections, the discovery of some really bad spondylitis in the lower half of her spine/tail, and finally a truly awful skin infection that the vet had to shave big patches of her to treat (I called her zombie dog).  The shaved bits were so ( Read more... )

This time, finches.  I haven't had birds in decades.

Both green singers and both bronze mannekins together.  When there was just one nest, they were always fighting over it, but now they seem to have settled down.  The mannekins like to sleep in the nest, but the singers just seem to like owning it.

Another adventure completed. Aya was mobbed by my roommate's dog, Bel (understandably, as Bel was in a lot of pain from a recurring medical problem) and afterward her eye swelled up, so it was off the vet for her.   I couldn't get her to open it much.  Only 3 hours and $100 later, she's home again, diagnosed with conjunctivitis, which just means ( Read more... )
