So one of the things I've learned about me in the last decade or so is that I need to enjoy my passions, even when they paint me as absurd, irrelevant, ignorant, or just a plain-old asshole. It's my schtick... it's what I do. As such, when I found a request to support Obama's candidate for the Supreme Court, Judge Sotomayor, I found myself excitedly adding my name to the electronic list being compiled on
Obama's website. Then I saw the "add a personal comment" section.
Honestly people, that's like asking, "Does Scooby want a Scooby-snack?".
So in my goofy, earnest, and *passionate* self I offered up the following:
"Judge Sotomayor comes before us all with a wealth of experience and a keen insight into both legal precedence and legal consequence. No single one of us can credibly claim to be absolutely unbiased but with Judge Sotomayor's decades of renowned practice, I am possessed of a quiet certainty: The Constitution of the United States will be both safe and healthy in her hands. As the Constitution stands, so do we all."
A bit flowery, perhaps, but sincere for all that.
