It's very rainy and humid here today. It sucks. Susan and I did go to the outback, but got soaked in the process. Even Caroline has that ever-so-charming wet dog smell that we all adore.
Still, dinner was worth it. I just love steak, and, if it comes from Outback, it's even better. The guy who waited on us was new, and acted like kind of a dork. Oh well!
Caroline behaved herself nicely, laying under the table, and giving everyone a gigantic surprise when we got up to leave, and she came walk out from under there. That's how I know my dog is well-behaved in public. No one knows she's there.
I had my in-service yesterday, and it was really interesting. A lot of it was stuff I knew from various classes, but the presenter was really good, and gave a really good overview of how to handle a severely mentally ill victim of sexual assault.
We had to do a role-playing exercise at the end. I'm not a huge fan of role-playing. It makes me feel incredibly stupid and self-conscious. Unfortunately, the two women I worked with weren't into it either, so ours kind of sucked. Still, we got the point, which is really all that matters.
The Medicine Woman Tarot deck came yesterday. The booklet that comes with it scanned like a dream, but is pretty much useless. It gives like 10 pages of introductory matterial, and then, one or two sentences for each card. So, I had to buy the expanded guide book, which I found on half.com for under $2. I just love that site! Still, I'm kind of disappointed, since I really wanted to start working with the deck right away. Oh well! Patience is a virtue, and all that.
I'm still reading Night Life by Thomas Perry. This is the first of his books that I've ever read, and it's really quite good. It doesn't drag, and the characters are engaging. I find myself cheering on this really horrible character, which is not good, but he really sucked me in, and got me to care about her.
I'm scanning Secret Lives by Diane Chamberlain. She's such a neat author. The Escape Artist is my favorite by her, but I've heard really good reviews of this one, too. I own a bunch of her stuff already, so I figured I'd scan this one, and read it pretty soon.
I've got 8 credits on PBS. I wonder what I should get. I need to look around there, and see what catches my eye.
Tonight is the full moon, but I'm not going to be able to do a working until tomorrow. I try not to do that kind of thing when Susan is home. She doesn't object or anything, but that is not her faith, and so, I try to do it when I'm alone. Plus, I think the energy flows better, when I don't have to worry about being distracted or disrupted.
Jen's girlfriend called me today. I really don't see the attraction. Jen is incredibly intelligent and articulate, and this woman talks like a gangster. Well, perhaps it's not really that bad. Anyway, she seems to think that, since I'm Jen's friend, I'm automatically going to be her friend, too. I don't know about that. I don't hate her or anything, but I really don't know what to say to her. She's a party girl, into drugs and drinking and all of that, and I'm not into any of that. (Sigh)
Well, I've rambled on long enough for now. Besides, the rain has let up a bit, so I'm going to take the canines out while I can.
