In about 20 minutes I am leading a conference call for this project that I am involved with. I am part of a group that has been selected by "Govn't agency X" to be guinea pigs...we basically have a 2 year process we are going through, developed by "Govn't agency X", in which we are suppose to come up with a statewide primary prevention plan on sexual assualt. The "Govn't agency X" stuff is so jargony and is so heterosexually focused. The process often doesn't make sense and we are suppose to follow the steps set for us only often we feel as though we don't have enough information to make decisions. Did you know that "Govn't agency X" can't even say racism, homophobia, or oppression? No, they say things like intersectionality...which refers to some aspects of oppression!!! The group is great around GLBT inclusive or at least thinking about being inclusive while at the same time demonizing of all forms of pornography as perpetuating violence against women. I don't even know how begin having a more sex positive conversation about this with this group.
I have to lead a subgroup of this project today who has been given an enormous task, I feel confused and so don't want to do this. I have been dreading this call all week. Grrrrrrrr
