The sodden earth beneath her feet squelched and hissed with each tentative step she took, her optical scanners unable to fully penetrate the thick fog through which she walked. It was ungodly and foreboding, a scene reminiscent of countless horror novels and movies from Earth, stories she'd cared nothing for until she found herself in one. Oh, nothing any human could imagine, no, but for her just as horrific as the demons that stalked the night and terrified those small, weak creatures.
She was lost, and alone, and terribly afraid, because loneliness -- true loneliness, an aching solitude she had never experienced before -- loneliness was no emotion a TARDIS should ever face until its last moments. But she was a long way from death and a longer way still from her master, and the silence where he should have been in her Heart was unbearable, even after all this time.
So she walked, unable to do anything else, in the feeble hope she might find him and make this nightmare end.
