The University of Wyoming will be hosting its first Day of
Silence on April 26th. The Day of Silence is a day long vow of silence
to recognize and protest the discrimination and harassment - in effect,
the silencing - experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered
(LGBT) people and their allies. This event is not just for LGBT
individuals, since even supporters of LGBT rights have to face prejudice
and violence. The Day of Silence Project is more than just being
silence for a day. Through our visible silence we hope to raise
awareness of LGBT issues and combat homophobia and heterosexism. We
welcome everyone to join us in this positive commitment to justice and
equality on the 26th of April.
What are you doing to end the silence?
