This post needs to have about four icons representing it. The one I've actually chosen was recently made for me by
dramaphile, and I like it muchly. Plus, I get to stare at it while writing this, so, mmmm. Thanks again! *licks icon as directed*
Imagine if you will my "Porn Writers Beware: homophones aren't sexy" icon. To this list of mood-breaking sins, add the following:
Never use the word "plopped" in close proximity to the conclusion of anal sex. They can sprawl on the bed in any way that seems best to you, but really, does "plopped" seem best to you? It doesn't to me. And btw, it IS possible to wince, laugh, and be embarrassed for someone all at the same time. (VERY possible. Which is why I don't watch what passes for American sitcoms nowadays, and British ones actually tend to be worse.)
I've gotten all the glass for my window cut today, excepting the background pieces, which I'll do tomorrow along with beginning the leading. I'll save my new stained glass icon for a picspam when the project's done. Watched ep "Home" of SGA while working. Usually I go for the geeky genius side of any pairing, but in this episode, Sheppard totally rules.
In a semi-related note, I've been importing filk tapes to iTunes, and came across a song that seems pretty applicable to Carson. (I'm on first season eps; do not talk to me about future!Carson. *fingers in ears* La la la.) The song is titled "Bones" and is on a Star Trek compilation album, but, well,
you'll see.
Tomorrow daytime there's a Eureka marathon on SciFi. This makes me happy, because I missed this show entirely last year, but then I read a crossover where Rodney and Sheppard move to Eureka, and now, well, I have to see it. =)
Over on Neil Gaiman's blog his daughter Maddy has been guest-blogging while they're in Prague visiting the set of Hellboy 2. She used the pig Latin version of her name today, which got me thinking, wouldn't Addie Mae be a great character name? First name Adelaide, of course, so there's countryfied and elegant (if old-fashioned) variants. I like multipurpose names like this... my long-time favorite is Elana, because "Ellie" and "Lana" obviously have very different personalities, and which one the character uses says a lot about them. My own name only bespeaks the latent alcoholism in my dad's family... at least I wound up with "Sherry" instead of "Brandy", which was his other choice. And my mother's, "Janet", was hardly better... how '70s! *shudder*
