On the drive to my place at ten to nine this morning, we noticed a quaint phenomenon: there were lizards all over the road. Lizards frozen still, heads up, as if waiting for something. We had to dodge them with the car, as though they were part of an obstacle course.
One thing was very clear.
Something big was going down in my neighbourhood.
A solitary squashed lizard lay on the road outside my house, while another lizard watched it from the grass nearby. That dead lizard had obviously betrayed someone.
