According to the internet, the average temperature in the part of Sweden where I live is 46F (7C).
The reality is that it is 46F (7C) or lower seven months of the year. Three of the remaining five months are a little bit over 46 and in July and August it's 61F (16C). It's cheating to claim that the average is 46 even if it's mathematically true.
We are now entering the beginning of those seven months during which it will be on the lower side of that average, which makes many of us who live here a little bit depressed and irritable.
For the first time since I moved here, I've been feeling a sense of dread about the approach of winter. Through all of the lovely fall days a mean little voice in the back of my mind has reminded me, "the next thing that's going to happen is the cold".
But I had an epiphany yesterday (while I stood outside in very cold rain and wind): if we are to come back around to the relative warmth, we must first have this cold part.
Suddenly there was a hopeful little voice in the back of my mind. "The next thing that's going to happen is that it will get warm".
Right?
