Speir women
I've been doing what any of you would be doing if your daughter was under any kind of health threat: I've been spending lots of time researching.
So in an email to Michele, I suggested that she keep a journal of her symptoms so that she could watch for patterns, etc.
And her reply to me was, "I'm not planning on having symptoms, Mom. I'm planning on putting this thing into remission and KEEPING it there."
We have a saying in our family, "That's the Speir woman in you." It comes from my great-great grandmother and her sisters, incredible women who were absolute role models of toughness, independence and true grit. Their last name was Speir - and when my mom tells me I've got Speir woman in me, I know that the gene pool is doing its work. I feel the connection to my great-great Greats.
