Another Fight

From my email:

"Osiyo,

YOUR VOICE MAKES A DIFFERENCE: USE OUR NEW WEBSITES TO GET THE FACTS AND BE HEARD!

The Cherokee Nation introduces two new websites:
http://www.meetthecherokee.org
http://www.cherokeenationfacts.org

We Need Your Help!

In March 2007, the Cherokee people voted overwhelmingly to continue our long-held requirement that all citizens of the Cherokee Nation must have at least one Cherokee ancestor on the Dawes Rolls. Since then, those who disagree with this referendum have distorted and misrepresented the meaning of our decision, Cherokee history, the law, and the facts.

While the debate over what it means to be a Cherokee citizen continues in federal and tribal courts, the U.S. Congress, and the media, we wanted to give you a place on the Web that could help you set the record straight.

On these sites, you will find facts, history, and updates on all things related to Cherokee citizenship issues:
Follow the litigation in federal and tribal courts; Monitor punitive anti-Cherokee legislation that would terminate the Nation and eliminate hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funding to cut vital health care, housing, and education services; Find real-life stories about what it means to be Cherokee as told by Cherokees; and Add your own voice. Tell Congress how anti-Cherokee legislation that would terminate the Nation or cut federal funding to the Cherokee Nation's young, old, and infirm citizens impacts you! Please encourage your family and friends to visit these sites.
You can also add web stickers http://capwiz.com/cherokee/remotecontent/ to your personal website to inform other individuals about this scorched-earth legislation and how they can help.

Indian Country and its friends are standing with the Cherokee Nation against the powerful forces that oppose the Cherokee people's right to be an Indian tribe made of Indians. They realize that an attack like this on one tribe is an attack against all tribes and that if this can happen to the Cherokee Nation - the second-largest tribe in the United States - it can happen to any tribe.

Every voice counts. Please join us and make yours heard!

Wado!
