Note: this started out as a sort of writing exercise for myself, but could very easily be turned into a meme - try it! Any number of any kind of relationship in whatever word limit you give yourself.
The High School Experiment
It started with a “teach me to kiss.” She wasn’t asking me, but I offered anyway. We wrote daily love notes and folded them expertly, and used the word “always” like a promise.
The First Big
We both hated our roommates, so we became roommates. I told her about the High School Experiment and that she had beautiful eyes. She took my virginity after we downed nearly a gallon of cheap vodka. She married my next roommate’s ex boyfriend and has two beautiful kids, and I hate her.
The One
Less than a month after I came out, my sorority sister brought her to visit from two states away after meeting in a Johnny Depp LJ community. We practically cohabited for the next two years, and the ring was gorgeously too expensive.
The Stand
She was smolderingly exotic, and the One was chasing her tail while she chased mine. A week later, I walked three blocks home at three a.m. while she and her roommate were snoring, just in time for her to become my sorority sister the following day.
The Unachievable
Older, wiser, and totally out of my league. I’ve never felt so worthy as when she’d give me her full attention. She enjoyed being my superior as much as I enjoyed being under her; her superior didn’t enjoy either so much.
The Pizza Girl
I needed to get my mind off of things, and she had some things to prove to herself. She had a pizza delivered to me while I was snowed in and home alone, and I gave her her first kiss at midnight on New Year’s Eve. There were many more firsts to follow.
The Summer Fling
My second summer working at an all-girls summer camp (any lesbian’s dream) I made a staff member I wasn’t even particularly fond of fall for me and suffered the consequences for the following few months. I guess “taking advantage” would be a good word association here.
The Young & Restless
This thumb-sucking ball of energy caught my attention the first time we met and held onto it for longer than she even knows. Together, we were constantly in motion, until we weren’t.
The Dreamer
We played house for a whole summer, dreaming of what could be. Sometimes we would dream together, sometimes we were nightmares.
The Second Chance
I met her after getting high and talking about service. She lost her chance with someone else, and I’d been lacking in chances at all. Three months and three days later, she broke up with me via phone call and refused to give a reason.
The Rebound
A Facebook message turned into coffee which turned into a roadtrip which turned into lots of phone calls which turned into a sexless dragged out psuedo-relationship.
Do you identify with any of these? How would you describe your relationships in fewer than 55 words?
