"Hey, big brother," Meg said. She was bored and had been wandering around the cabin to see what everybody was up to. "Look at you, all smiley."

"Hey, yourself, little sister," Bridge's grin gets even wider. Who knew that was possible? "Today is kind of awesome." Okay, technically, just about every day in Bridge-world is awesome, but today is more awesome than a lot of days.

"You been keeping up with any California-related news lately?" Bridge asks.

"Rooooooooooooomie," Anders says, poking his head in.

Anders comes in and flops himself across the foot of the bed without asking, because he feels he's got the all-access roomie pass.
