Hello wedding readers!
I know that this is the update you've all been waiting for, because you can't wait to see how much we've gotten accomplished since last I wrote, which seems like it was a long time ago. Here's where we are now. We have:
- dress*
- undergarment type things to go with aforementioned dress
- veil
- jewelry
- church
- pastor
- reception facility
- female half of wedding party
- the groom
- reception music
- male half of wedding party
- flowers
- rehearsal dinner location
- guest list divisions
recent additions:
- rehearsal dinner reservations
- tentative guest list
- started a gift registry, which needs major tweaking
- alteration appointment
- bridesmaids dresses
- shoes!
- a prospective caterer**
- engagement pictures
* As you know, I had a dress already. But then, because The Almighty deemed it necessary for my mother to be on the right track when she said, "Are you sure this is the dress you will still want later??", I decided to go with a different dress. Luckily, this one was on sale, and the first one cost us well under $100. Also interesting to note, this dress was the very first one I ever tried on. And it still goes with all of my other wedding dress accessories.
** I say "prospective" caterer because we were all set to go with a menu we liked, a price we didn't, some changes we wanted to make, and he has not returned our contact attempts for three weeks. I realize that this man is very busy, but we've got to get on the ball here. So I'll keep you posted.
Other than that, we're just excited that there's a little less than five months to go. Getting registered wasn't quite as much fun as we thought it would be, for several reasons, the biggest being that we didn't have very much time that day. We'll go back, do some stuff online, and get all squared away. Just know that we don't expect our guests to ever in a million years buy us 12 place settings of fine china at a $109 a pop.
I should mention that I've had the "no-guests-because-we-didn't-get-invitations-out" dream several times since I first started this journal. In the most recent variation, Zach showed up in sweatpants. Erin says that this means we need to tackle the invitations next so that I'll stop worrying about it. Evidently, we need to get on some tuxedos as well. Ceremony music (Z-groom's only big assignment so far) also needs some attention. Do I smell some re-delegating of responsibilities?
Well, that's about it for now. In true Smith fashion, it appears that I'll be leaving everything to just about the last minute. Good thing I work well under pressure.
