New Year's Eve Meme

Were you in school (anytime this year)?
Well, I don't take classes anymore (God bless the research PhD!), but I do teach undergrad courses now, so I guess my answer would have to be yes... sort of.

How did you earn your keep?
Scamming Tony Blair into funding my PhD and teaching Modern British History to enable me to buy shoes.

Did you have to go to the hospital?
I had to go to the doctor, but not the hospital... which I think is a first for me.  Yay!

Did you encounter the police?
Yes, but I was not the culprit.  Those little bastard hooligans outside in the square were the guilty ones.

Where did you go on vacation?
Co. Antrim, Paris, Canada, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Scotland

What did you purchase that was over $500?
Plane tickets?

Did you know anybody who got married?
Yes.  My brother married gorgeous Heather; Mabel married Lee; Jen married some guy in Texas

Did you know anybody who passed away?
My grandfather and my Aunt Joyce

Have you run into anybody you graduated high school with?
When I was home in Ktown over the summer

Did you move anywhere?
Nope, still based in Londinium

What sporting events did you go to?
Does being in England for the World Cup count?

What concerts did you go to?
Eric Clapton at Royal Albert Hall was the highlight (box seats, baby!!!); Messiah at St Martin in the Fields was also very good

Are you registered to vote?
Yes -- in two countries!  The Empire Strikes Back, my friend!

If so, did you do your patriotic duty on Nov. 7?
That's not an election date for me.

Where do you live now?
Oh, everywhere.

Describe your birthday.
Small soiree at the Union Tavern -- one of the few details I do remember is that Bruce was the only man present, bless him.  Stephanie bought me a fuzzy monkey that I called Rupert.

What's the one thing you thought you would never do but did in 2006?
Walk along the Giant's Causeway totally pissed.

What is one thing you regretted this year?
Calling my grandparents more often.

What's something you learned about yourself?
I'm a half-decent writer.

Any new additions to your family?
My sister-in-law!

What was your best month?
August was a blast.

What from pop culture will you remember 2006 by?
It's more that I can't fly to Belfast without some pop culture moment happening -- first Macca's divorce, then the Diana Report.  My flights to George Best Airport are doomed to coincide with Entertainment Tonight having a field day.

How would you rate this year with a scale from 1 (shitty) to 10 (excellent)?
7.5 -- some great highs, some very upsetting lows.  But I'm entering 2007 feeling very happy.
