A Depressing Poem I Wrote

Feb 28, 2004 20:09

Ha, what do I do that isn't depressing?

Dear John

~

In memoriam to our
Dearest, Dearest John,
Joined the Heavenly Choir
Nigh the sweet sounds
Of Spring came to our ears.
Dear John how your
Passionate Eyes
Will be missed by us all.

It was an almost warm
Winter Spring day
When Shadows did come
Take Dear John away.

For but one sin
Dear John was damned;
Naught Earth’s pleasures corrupted him.
But little they knew what blackened his heart:
T’was not Mortal Lust,
Nor poisoned dart.

The boy’s fall lay within his own Mind,
For daily he begged and crawled,
Hourly, constantly he pined
For a single True Love to call his own.
But this to Her was not fully revealed,
For yet even to him it was unknown.

It was after four Seasons
Of Love’s painful wear
For a few unknown reasons
The burden became far too heavy to bear.

It was an almost warm Winter Spring day,
When True Love ripped John’s soul away.
No caring heart heeded his tearful cries,
As no one does nigh the final echo fades and dies.
In a rush of Sorrow, thinking not even to stay his own hand and pray,
Dear John took rope and hung himself that bittersweet day.

Yea, I'm thinking of changing it a lot. In fact, I'm going to write a totally different poem that uses the lines:
No caring heart heeded his tearful cries,
As no one does nigh the final echo fades and dies.

Yea it's going to be awesome. In a depressing sort of way.
