closing night

things to miss about rodelinda:

rob's mimicking of the poor singing from offstage; maestro manahan's jokingly coy remarks at each intermission, when I escort him to the pit; rick schreiner calling "two minutes to white castle" (a set piece) over the radio; the tenor aria in act III, which is like a lullaby; or, for that matter, the brief harmonic suspension in the duet at the close of act II, where the ladies have taken, in the last two performances, to kissing, much to the delight of the audience; our contralto's tiny dog, gizmo, who appears at the theater in a different 'diva dress' every night; our concertmaster's constant patter of gratitude and encouragement, unprecedented.

but mostly I am over this show. this weekend is my first weekend -- two whole days! without work! -- in five weeks.
