Scandal 2.08 - Happy Birthday Mr. President
[Spoilers Ahoy]
OMG, right at the end of last week’s episode they shot the President!
At the beginning of this episode we just saw the briefest glimpse of him being wheeled past in the emergency room on a gurney. There was a bloody bandage on his head, and he’d definitely taken a shot to the torso as well.
Lots of flashbacks to the early days of his Presidency. I like how they changed Olivia's hairstyle to make the date clear (curly = past, straight = present).
I hate it when Fritz tries to force Olivia to succumb to his will. And I really liked it when she called him on it. “I’m feeling a little Sally Hemmings/Thomas Jefferson about this.” And later, “You own me, I belong to you. You control me. “
I can’t decide if Fritz is pathetic, or an incredibly incredibly manipulative abuser. Especially when he starts talking about how he feels. “I love you. I’ve in love with you. You’re the love of my life. I can’t breathe without you. I exist for you.” I kinda get the feeling that he’s using Olivia’s patriotism against her. I mean, he took her to see the Constitution, and let her touch it. And then he’s all, I can’t be a good president unless I’m schtupping you on a regular basis. I can't concentrate and run the country unless I have you in my bed.
And the minute they said the suspect was wearing a “red hoodie” I immediately thought of Huck… Man, he’s definitely been the most mysterious character on this show.
It’s pretty obvious that all of the story lines for the past two seasons have been leading up to this. The question is, what do they do for an encore? ALL the story lines are wrapping up. Is there anything to continue to write about for a third season?
