Because Gene Roddenberry's vision of the future included a woman as XO of the Enterprise (in the original pilot), an African-American woman on the bridge, Americans, Russians, and Japanese working together (despite cold war era tensions), and pointy eared, green blooded aliens living among us.
Science fiction is not just about the dominiant white male culture. It is about exploring all cultures. We cannot allow RaceFail to continue.
