Weekend Update

Jan 09, 2017 22:27

I’ve finally figured out that I should just work with my Seasonal Affective Disorder instead of trying to fight it. If I’m solar powered, then I should learn to make hay while the sun shines.

Saturday was a snow day. I didn’t do much other than watch movies on cable all day. I watched Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (Jeremy Renner!), then I caught most of Hackers (young Angelina Jolie!). Then I watched The Intern.

And then I made the mistake of watching Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds. That was depressing. Mostly because of what rough shape Debbie Reynolds was in. She was clearly in fading health, as far back as 2014. There was at least a couple of points in the documentary where she didn’t want to be on camera, and they showed a shot of the outside of the house along with the audio. When she accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Screen Actor’s Guild in January 2015, she could barely walk and just seemed like she was mentally wandering. So I’m much less surprised that she died within a day of her daughter now, I’m actually more surprised that she lasted that long.

Sunday it was supposed to be sunny out. So I made sure I got my chores done while the sun was shining and I had some motivation. I washed the dishes and vacuumed the house. I did a bunch of much needed tidying in the sewing room. (I have a floor again!) I got all my bras hand washed. So that felt good, that I had one relaxing day and one productive day. My house is slowly but surely getting cleaner and cleaner.
