I didn’t set an alarm when I went to bed Friday night. And I surprised myself by sleeping until 10:00 Saturday morning.
I rolled out of bed and told myself I could surf the Internet until noon, and then I’d get some work done. But then I found that I had little motivation to get anything done. Since it’s the weekend, the nice thing is that I didn’t really need to get anything done if I didn’t want to (ah the joys of being an adult, I can choose to avoid adulting if I want to sometimes!).
While I was surfing Facebook, one of my friends who has been playing around with jewelry making and making tiaras posted a link to Madame Guillotine’s page (
https://www.facebook.com/MmeGuillotine/) where the page owner has had an advent calendar of tiaras. And we all know
how I feel about tiaras . So of course I dove right in to drool all over the pretties!
I had pretty much settled on being a slug for the day and not putting on pants when someone rang the buzzer. Drat. Of course it was snowing, and I’d have to get dressed and go shovel out the damned car. *curses the weather* I good naturedly groused with the neighbors as I brushed the 4-6 inches off my car. My immediate parking neighbor, had, like me, planned to get through the day without putting on pants or a bra until the plow guy rang the buzzer.
By the time I got my car cleared off, one of the neighbors still hadn’t come out to work on his car. Since it was about lunchtime, I figured I’d go out, pick up something to eat, and maybe the plow guy would be done by the time I came back. Besides, all the visitor parking (where we’re supposed to hang out while our spaces get plowed) was already full. I grabbed my purse and left the lot.
The roads were wicked sloppy. I headed north, and even by the mall in Nashua there was still a good bit of snow on the roads, which made driving very slippery. I crept past the mall and up to Barnes and Nobles, where I browsed for a while, fully aware that I was just wasting time. I still ended up bringing home books.
I picked up
The Plots Against Hitler because for some reason right now my taste in reading is trending towards WWII and the fight against Fascism. Can’t imagine why…. In 1933, Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany. A year later, all parties but the Nazis had been outlawed, freedom of the press was but a memory, and Hitler’s dominance seemed complete.
I also grabbed the most recent Her Royal Spyness mystery,
Crowned and Dangerous, because I didn’t have it yet. And
The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fischer, because I’d just seen Rogue One, and because I’ve heard that Carrie Fischer’s writing is hilarious. And I picked up
Yuge: 30 Years of Doonesbury on Trump because I used to collect Doonesbury books back in the 70s and 80s and I’m not sure exactly why I stopped.
On the way home I put gas in the car and then stopped to pick up some Chinese food for (by now) very late lunch. I got back to Frogholm an hour after I’d left. And even though all the cars had been moved, my space still wasn’t plowed! Grrrr. I drove around to the back lot to turn around, and no sign of the plow guy anywhere. He better have been off buying more gas. I parked in the visitor space and went inside to eat my lunch while it was still hot.
One of these days I will learn that what I really want to order is not Szechuan dumplings but Peking Ravioli. *sighs* I watched some TV on the DRV and snarfed down egg rolls and the rest of my order, and went out an hour later to move my car to my space. Which still had a good sized wedge of snow left in it because the plow guy hadn’t gone straight across the parking lot and had left some of my space unplowed. *grumble grumble* Stuff like this is exactly why I have a love/hate relationship with our lowest bidder plowing contractor.
When I got back inside I watched Inception. Because fandom keeps going on and on about the movie, and I hadn’t seen it since it was in theaters back in 2010. I still don’t know why fandom loves this movie so much. It’s interesting, but I dunno, I just don’t get the huge love for it in some circles.
Nothing much got done on Sunday. I did diddly squat. Surged the web. Watched movies on TV (Star Wars, The Bourne Identity). Ran the dishwasher. Looked a kitten pictures on the web.
They had Kellyanne Conway on Face the Nation again. I really hate listening to this woman talk. She never answers the question that she’s asked. And then she answers questions as if she’s still campaigning. If they really believe that the election is over, why does she keep bringing up Hillary Clinton and mentioning how much they won the election by? God Bless John Dickerson though for not letting her get away with it. He interrupted her long spiel of Trump talking points to ask “You’re saying that the President[Obama] is bringing up this issue of the Russians for purely political reasons and not for reasons of National Security?”
