I’m finally feeling somewhat better. There’s still quite a bit of coughing going on, but I’m coughing up less phegm, and the coughing is less uncontrollable. Last week I was coughing until my diaphragm hurt. This week I’m coughing once or twice, and that’s it. I’m hoping I’ll be feeling more like myself soon.

This morning I managed to do more than roll out of bed, get dressed and head into the office. Before I left for work I folded and put away a load of laundry, ran the dishwasher, and took the trash out to the dumpster. So I feel like I accomplished some adulting before I even left the house.

The commute is still good. There are a couple of slow spots, I’m sure they’ll be even worse when I start managing to get out of the house earlier. But still, twelve miles is twelve miles.

I met the Technical Program Manager for my project today. She stopped by twice between meetings to chat and answer questions. I also met the Office Coordinator, who dropped off a Welcome goodie bag which consisted of a tote bag, a nice leather bound notebook, a Tervis tumbler, an insulated lunch bag, a lanyard, and a flash drive. All with the company logo, of course.

It’s really nice to get company swag so soon, makes me feel like part of the team. I remember I got a similar goodie bag when I started at BlackOps. I was at The Place for four months, and even though everyone who worked there seemed to have coffee mugs and tumblers and t-shirts and even sweatshirts, the only company swag I ever got was a sticker. It’s hard to feel like you’re part of the team when the rest of the team has stuff that you don’t have. So yay having company swag! I have Stuff™!

When I got home I watched the premieres of Conviction (Haley Atwell’s new series) and Timeless (the new time travel drama) on the DVR. Both look like they’re going to be good shows.

I’m keeping an eye on Hurricane Matthew. He’s due to be off the shore of New England by this weekend. Weather Underground is currently predicting an inch of rain for North Haven for Saturday. I wonder if CTRF will cancel? And if they’ll do it in time for me to avoid driving down to CT at o-dark-thirty in the rain?
