Over on Facebook my sister posted a link to Edward Norton’s fundraiser for the scientist. They raised $10,000 in the time it took for her to read the eight short quotes from Humans of New York about this particular Syrian refugee. We locked away our own citizens in concentration internment camps.
We turned away Jewish refugees and sent them to their doom.
Then, we welcomed Nazi scientists to join our ranks.

I completely see your point and from that perspective it's pretty damning. But it's also possible there are people like me (although I've never heard of this fundraiser till now) who DO want to welcome any and all Refugees here and that was just an easy way put in front of them to contribute directly to one? No one has given me a way to help someone here before, but I do realize I'm straining to find a positive here.

But there are plenty of worthy charities that where people can donate to if they want to help Syrian refugees. And it's not like people don't know about the Red Cross. And back in September, Google had a link on the home page that raised $11 million. You may be right, people just needed it to be easy.

yup. all the non profits I applied for basically felt that without an education I was crap...it goes with the wealthy as well. Rich people don't like poor folks..any poor folks.
