In which our heroine dives back into her Inbox

I haven’t been in my one e-mail account for about a month. I mostly use that one for professional mailing lists, so it’s generally safe to ignore it periodically. Of course, because I use it for mailing lists I spent most of the day today digging out from under a huge pile of backed up e-mail (including one of those rare notes from my dad, whoops!). And in amongst the notes from all my various TW and tools user groups, I found this gem from a recruiter:

Hi Julie,

I came across your information and was highly impressed with your experience. We are actively seeking a Peoplesoft Application Developer for a financial client in Salem, NH or Tampa, FL.
Please let me know if you would be interested in speaking further-
Here are some general details:

The Peoplesoft Applications Developer will design, create and support objects in PeopleSoft CRM interface using an Oracle 11g database. Interface with the user community to collect and document requirements for various projects. Additional development will be in Oracle, PL-SQL, HTML, Java and Javascript.
[More stuff about requirements I don’t even vaguely meet]

OK, now I’m really getting tired of recruiters running keyword searches and sending me glowing e-mails about how qualified I am for developer and consulting gigs. It’s gotten to the point where I feel no compunction about spanking them via e-mail for being so damned lazy that they can’t even bother to skim the headline of my profile before sending out a fishing e-mail.

May I recommend that you might want to do more than just the barest keyword search on LinkedIn before sending out glowing e-mails about how impressed you are with a candidate's experience?

If you'd taken the seconds needed to scan my profile, you would have seen that I am not an application developer, but a technical writer. While I have written documentation for integrations with PeopleSoft, I have no actual experience with the application itself.

I'm afraid I must pass on this opportunity, as I am completely unqualified for it.

The last guy I spanked wrote back and thanked me, and said that he could see that I had a sense of humor. I guess I must have made him laugh at himself.

recruiters again, family
