So showers around Frogholm have been somewhere between tepid and lukewarm for way too long. I'd assumed that either the neighbors were using up all the hot water or that the water heater was failing again (It's happened at least once or twice in the 10 years I've lived here). The plumber came yesterday and stuck his thermometer in the water coming out of my faucets. Kitchen sink = 120 degrees (which is what the boiler is set to). Bathroom sink = 120 degrees. Shower = 100 degrees. Oh yeah, that's not hot. Not at all.
My shower has a single knob for both hot and cold water. And apparently the mixers in that type of faucet can wear out when they're old. Mine is at least ten years old, and for all I know could be original to the condo. So we replaced it
I didn't realize it at the time, but the plumber also replaced my shower massage shower head with the one that came with the new faucet. And I definitely prefer the shower massage head, so I'll have to pick up another one (the previous one was ten years old too, so probably time to replace it anyways...)
This morning I enjoyed the first legitimately HOT shower I've had in months. *BLISS*
