Today I am thankful for being enfranchised. I am thankful for the brave women who braved abuse and arrest to pave the way for my generation to be able to vote: Jane Adams, Susan B. Anthony, Julia Ward Howe, Lucretia Mott, Helen Keller, Margaret Sanger, and many others (
Wikipedia has a nice list).
I am also thankful for the League of Women Voters. At some point this summer I got a flier in the mail about the 2014 Ballot Questions, with very detailed information about the language of the bill, as well as a couple of short paragraphs written by individuals or groups on each side of the issue. I appreciate receiving fair and balanced voting information in the mail, and the work that went into compiling and delivering it to me. (And I'm happy I put it aside where I could find it last night!)
