I survived another week at work! Go me! And hopefully, after my third interview next week we can make someone an offer and I’ll have a minion. *fingers crossed*
I haven’t gone crazy (or postal) at work. Despite being sorely tempted. Today’s trial was trying to figure out how Boss Fella got the DVD insert to PDF so that if you print it out and fold it, it’s a little pamphlet. He set up the pages as landscape, but it took me a while to figure out how he did the PDF conversion to get two pages of text on a single page in the PDF. Luckily I went and whined to someone about it, which always seems to do the trick. It’s like once I actually say out loud that I don’t know what I’m doing, suddenly my brain goes, “Yes you do! Here’s the solution!” Reverse psychology, using it on yourself FTW! \o/
One of our product managers told me this week how happy she is that I'm at BlackOps. Awww. Awesome coworkers are awesome. =D
Beorn got engaged. Yay! He’s such a great guy, I’m so glad he’s found a great gal.
My back is still hanging in there. Today’s massage was just what I needed, turns out that today’s therapist was of the nerd persuasion. Most of the folks I’ve had work on me aren’t chatty, but today we geeked out for the whole hour. Awesome.
And I’ve been writing this week. I’ve logged about 1,000 words a day on my Pacific Rim fanfic idea, which isn’t bad when you consider I haven’t really had a whole lotta time (or energy) to write. Some of that is background research, some is character notes (I have at least four original characters in mind), some are story notes, but some of that work is writing actual scenes and dialog. I’m hoping to carve out at least a little bit of time this weekend for actual writing.
But that will have to be around sewing. I need to get some sewing done this weekend for my trip to Bristol next weekend. I seem to recall that last time I visited (five years ago) I was sweltering in my linen gown. I bought some lightweight wool when one of the online fabric sites was having a sale, and it did in fact turn out to be lovely lightweight stuff. I’ve been surprised at how comfortable my wool gown is, but it’s definitely too heavy for really hot weather. I’m hoping that the lightweight wool will end up breathing better than the linen gown did. I hope it’s still nice after I run it through the washing machine tomorrow (Yes, for those that don’t do Landsknecht, if you’re going to slash it, you wash all your wool first. None of this dry cleaning stuff, you want to abuse it before you sew with it.) So, I’m hoping that if I apply myself I can whip out a gown in two days (it’s doable, I’ve sewn this gown enough times before). And I want to try to whip up a Wulst and Steuchline too. I suspect I’ll be sewing after work this week. Last minute sewing projects before an event, they’re a tradition.
So, this should be a busy weekend, what with the writing and the sewing, and maybe a couple of trips to the movies in the evenings.
