WTF Comcast?

I'm really starting to get irritated with Comcast. They do software updates to my cable box/DVR in the middle of the night, which fubars my older TV. So it's not uncommon for me to have to reboot my cable box in order to be able to reset it to the non-high definition settings that it can handle. I usually have to reboot about once a week. But this week? I think I've rebooted the cable box at least once a day. And there was at least one day where I had to do it twice before I could fix the display settings.

I've been working at clearing out the DVR. When I set it to record Castle, I foolishly said "Record all" forgetting that Castle has gone into syndication in reruns. So my DVR is 80% full, which means it starts flashing "you're almost full" messages at me on a regular basis. So I've been working at watching and deleting stuff I've got on the DVR. There's a couple of shows where I may want to try to burn the whole season to DVD, so they're not getting deleted (yet).

Now here's the WTF part. The first time I got the 80% full message, it said I had 125 hours or so on the DVR. Right now it says I have 100 hours on the DVR, and it claims to be 82% full. I discovered tonight that when you delete a show, it's still there and you can restore it (probably similar to the Windows recycle bin). So I spent tonight erasing everything that was in my Deleted folder. And my DVR is still saying it's 82% full. WTF Comcast? If deleting AND erasing a show doesn't work, what the hell do you have to do to clear space?!?
