im walking home with a little extra cash. its hot. theres a 7-11 to my right.
i walk in for the first slurpee of the year. now the ritual for almost a decade now has been the triple layer brain freeze which is pina colada, blueberry and wild cherry. pina colada on the bottom, blueberry in the middle and wildcherry for a nice touch on the top. the only way this works perfectly, with a new flavor hitting me at just the right moment before i get bored and sick to my stomach, is with one of the greatest accompaniments to the classic paper cup formulated by man: THE DOME TOP. it allows you to fill your cup above the brim without it overflowing. im reaching for it to make my purchase...not there.
i walk up to the counter topless. "do you have any extra domes?" "we only have the flats" she hands me one. its flimsy, icey clear, and it says GULP in bubble letters.
